Construction for Tororo High Court Set to Commence

November 17, 2023 is a date that the people of Tororo District and surrounding areas will hold dear, as it marked a significant milestone in the justice system.

On this date, there was a groundbreaking breaking ceremony for the construction of Tororo High Court.

The ceremony was presided over by Tororo High Court Circuit Resident Judge, Hon. Justice Henry Isabirye Kawesa and witnessed by different stakeholders in the justice system. 

The courthouse which is billed at UGX2.97 billion is located within Tororo Municipality adjacent the Tororo District Local Government headquarters.

M/S Eleven Steps Company Ltd will execute the construction of the ultra-modern courthouse for a period of two years.

The Commissioner Engineering and Technical Services, Eng Dr Christopher Ebal is the Project Manager.

Hon. Justice Kawesa thanked the Judiciary management for prioritizing the construction of Tororo High Court after that of Rukungiri High Court.

He emphasized the need for the value of money and adhering to timelines set.

The LC V Vice Chairperson Tororo District, Ms Rebecca Akullu emphasized to the contractor the need for quality work. Noting that the District will not tolerate shoddy work.

Ms Akullu said the works will be monitored on a regular basis to ensure that the construction work is according to plan.

The Principal Executive Engineer, Eng. Priscilla Nakiboneka, who represented Eng Dr Ebal, reassured the stakeholders that all was in place to ensure that there is quality assurance.

She said there will be a Clerk of Works at the construction site for the day to day supervision while Mr Samuel Mpyangu is the contract manager.
